Join us for Glasgow’s Climate Week!
When: Monday 12th – Friday 16th May 2025
What is Climate Week?
Glasgow’s Climate Week is a chance to celebrate examples of positive climate action with people across the city. All of the projects and ideas shared during Climate Week are contributing to the goals within Glasgow’s Climate Plan and Climate Adaptation Plan, and towards our 2030 Net Zero Carbon emissions target.
During Glasgow’s Climate Week there will be opportunities for you to:
- attend events showcasing positive climate action and learn more about their impact
- showcase work that you and your organisation are doing
- find out more about Glasgow’s Climate Plan
- understand what you can do to help
All Climate Week events are listed below on the event pages. Scroll down to the ‘How can I get involved?’ heading for more information. These pages will be updated regularly, so make sure to check back to find out more about the many activities that will be happening across the city.
We are also delighted that Glasgow’s Climate week will be enhanced by the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference (14th - 15th May) which is again being hosted in Glasgow at the Scottish Exhibition Centre.
Why is Glasgow’s Climate Week important?
Glasgow’s Climate Week helps to promote many examples of climate-positive work that are already happening across the city and supports connections between people and organisations to further develop ideas. Taking positive action for the climate is essential in the fight against climate change. Climate change is increasingly affecting all of us as time goes on so it is important that we take every opportunity to highlight where good work is being done.
Climate change is a problem that cannot be solved by one person or group - we all need to work together to make a difference. We can all take action to reduce emissions to slow down climate change and to adapt to impacts we are already experiencing. Taking action can help to make our city a better place for everyone, whilst also minimising our impact on the environment. Glasgow’s Climate Week invites everyone to get involved, helping people to learn about and take positive steps for our climate.
What action is Glasgow taking on climate change?
Glasgow recognised the serious impacts of the climate crisis and declared a state of climate and ecological emergency in 2019, setting the target for the City to be Net Zero Carbon by 2030. In response, Glasgow’s Climate Plan was created, providing an action plan to reduce emissions. In addition, Glasgow’s Climate Adaptation Plan outlines city-wide action to start to prepare, or ‘adapt’, to those climate change impacts already experienced, and those forecast to come. Glasgow’s recently developed Net Zero Route Map takes us a step further towards understanding and focusing our activity to tackle the climate and ecological challenges. Glasgow City Council plays an important role in carrying out and supporting these plans. The Sustainable Glasgow Partnership also plays a key role in bringing together stakeholders from across the city with a focus on climate action.
If you are interested in learning more about Glasgow’s role in the climate emergency, take a look at our Sustainability webpages where you will find more information on our Climate Plan and supporting work.
