Our Purpose
The Sustainable Glasgow Partnership (also known as the SGP or Sustainable Glasgow) formed in 2010 with the aim of making the city one of the greenest in Europe.
The Sustainable Glasgow Board consists of members from local government, utilities, higher education and other key organisations in Glasgow and is chaired by the Leader of Glasgow City Council. It meets quarterly and four thematic Hubs report into the Board.
The Board remains focused on setting a shared vision which can drive action for a greener city.It will continue to develop strategic direction for further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and developing low carbon energy systems.It will also harness partners’ efforts to set and implement policy in relation to a broad range of sustainability themes, including:
- Air quality
- Sustainable transport
- Circular economy
- Community planning and budgeting opportunities
- Green economic growth and a just transition
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Energy efficiency and new energy systems
- Re-cycling and waste
- Sustainable food city
- City resilience
- Sustainable design
- Greening the city
- Biodiversity and nurturing the natural environment.
